Emperors often occur in schools, and prey on small fishes, squids, crustaceans, echinoderms and other invertebrates.They are superb food fishes. Emperors and Seabrams are sequential hermaphrodites, functionning as fully reproductive females initially, then changing sex from female to male at a certain stage of growth.
