The Fivebar Flagtail is very widespread, occurring from Africa to the eastern Pacific and forming dense schools in surge areas along rocky shorelines and over reefs.It feeds nocturnally, mainly on pelagic crustaceans, and reaches a maximum length of about 20 cm.
