The Taylor is a veracious predator of small schooling fishes such as mullets. In Australia it is widely targeted by recreational anglers, as it is an excellent food fish and will readily attack lures or bait, fighting tenaciously and often leaping clear of the water. The taylor is reported to reach a maximum length of 1.3 m and weight of 14 kg.
